The 2026 Lunar New Year is a rare combination of element and animal influences. The Fire Horse comes around once every sixty years. It brings rapid change, personal growth and fresh opportunities.
In Chinese medicine and tradition the element of fire brings the qualities of intensity, urgency and passion. This element can be demanding, bringing motivation and dynamism to situations and projects.
In that same Chinese tradition the Lunar years led by The Horse bring a stage in life that asks one to move boldly forward, without fear of obstacles. Being in motion is emphasized rather than standing still.
In mythology and stories, horses come in to draw deities chariots or to become magical mounts for powerful deities. Beloved Sleipnir, a silvery,magical, eight legged stallion was the legendary steed of Beloved Norse Deity Odin, The All Father of Light.
Lord Krishna bestowed Divine Kingly Wisdom to Arjune as he drove his golden chariot into battle in the epic Bhagavadgita. Greek Deity Apollo drives his golden Solar chariot across the sky daily, led by four fiery, restless horses. The Hindu Solar Deity Surya, also brings the sun and its gifts across the heavens in a golden chariot, whose steeds numbering seven, known as the Harits, represent the seven chakras,colors in the spectrum and days of the week.
Horses are important vehicles for the Divine and move them into victory through action, with speed,confidence and effortlessness. This year, they have arrived to do the same for you!
When Fire Horse Season comes it’s time for a faster pace of life, for bold action - for movement in many forms. Personal growth is developed and breakthroughs are likely in many areas of life. Exhaustive planning or overscheduling is not favored and getting moving first, and adjusting through intuition as you go is the name of the game.
Because the energy is intense, fiery, urgent and filled with the call to action, in Fire Horse years, it becomes imperative to regulate one's nervous system, set clear boundaries around when and how you rest and recoup and focus on consistent self care such as movement/exercise, journaling or meditating.
Fire Horse is about action and movement but also, longevity and perseverance. Fire Horse is not afraid of slowness, it is afraid of stagnation. So not confusing busyness with productivity, prioritizing recovery time and slowing down is important to avert fatigue or exhaustion.
Remembering to embrace and bring up from within the playful qualities of this Fire Horse Year through warm heartedness, generosity, passion, hardwork, agreeableness, vitality and confidence will lend joyfulness and pleasure to this dynamic and sometimes restless season.
This powerful year will move each of us forward, fast and successfully if we take good care of our nervous systems, slow down sometimes and remember to allow ourselves to be carried into new freedoms, delivered to success as effortlessly as possible on the back of The rare Fire Horse.
